Why we believe our lessons are critically needed!
Drowning is the number 1 cause of death for children.
83% of people who drown are fully clothed, as they never intended to be near water that day.
Every year in the US there are over 4,000* fatal unintentional drownings, that is an average of 11 drowning deaths per day.
Every year in the US, there are about 8,080† nonfatal drownings that is an average of 22 nonfatal drownings per day. That typically result in life long medical issues or disabilities.
Panic is your arch enemy in any emergency and can happen to anyone.
68% of childhood drownings happened while adults were present.
40% of child drownings happen where a child could technically touch bottom.
Drowning happens year-round regardless of weather, temperature, ability to stand up and lake conditions.
Rescuers drown every day in this country. Even lifeguards have drowned.
Most adults do not swim well enough to save themselves let alone someone else.
Most drowning victims over 5 were listed as average or above average swimmers by family and friends.
Group Lesson Parent ToDos:
Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to lessons. Please note wetsuit and flipper size on day one so on all future lessons you can get your child into their wetsuit and flippers (if available as some equipment is shared)prior to lesson start time. Our lessons have a small amount of built in equipment time for shared and or additional equipment.
Water pool side when in a hot pool room/when hot outside is important.
No swimming prior to the start of lessons as kids get tired and can get cold.
Please don’t grab equipment more than 10 minutes prior to the start of each child’s lesson time.
Remember as trained aquatic professionals we are equipped to determine if, when and what equipment is appropriate for each student for positive progress and safety.
By the end of lesson 2 some kids will start swimming in clothing on lesson 3, make sure you know if and what clothing each child will need.
Reminder we do not control the pools we use and pools can go down with no notice. We also do not control the weather.
